新冠疫情肆虐本港3年後，港府終鬆綁大部分防疫政策，更有消息指，當局擬於3月解除口罩令。身兼政府專家顧問的港大微生物學系講座教授袁國勇表示，應等待至3至4月，每日最低氣溫上升到至少攝氏20度，才撤銷口罩令，屆時即使本港全面開放，新冠、流感等傳染病會在夏季正常傳播，病毒存活時間較少，可鞏固社區混合免疫屏障，只要「捱過夏季這一輪」，便可減低冬季大爆發的來臨，免得公營醫療系統再度崩潰。
