Most Westerners visiting Southeast Asia experience how it really feels to be light and free for the first time in their lives. It's almost like being a kid again because there is constant discovery again. The weather is warm, there are tons of beaches, islands, jungles, mountains and beautiful landscapes to explore, endless outdoor activities that you can't do in the West, the streets are alive and buzzing with activity, there is unbelievable food everywhere, there's all of the modern Western amenities and luxuries, the economy is booming and the fastest growing on earth, there is very little crime across the entire continent and the locals are friendly and like to joke around. Plus you can enjoy all of this at 1/5th the cost of living in the West in paradise settings. In the West, it's all about rules, rigidity, making money, no interacting with strangers, pretending to look and be rich, competition, extremely high cost of living etc. Perception and status is much more important in the West and everyone is always trying to out do each other whether it be the clothes they wear, expensive luxury brands, the car they drive, the neighborhood they live, how big their house is, what title they have at work, what school they went to etc - it's non stop. Southeast Asians just don't care about that stuff. They'd rather chat with you on the beach, laugh, have a beer and eat some delicious satay with you.
大多數訪問東南亞的西方人都會體驗到他們人生中第一次輕盈和自由的真正感覺。這幾乎就像回到了孩子時代，因為又有了不斷的發現。天氣溫暖，有大量的海灘、島嶼、叢林、山脈和美麗的風景可供探索，有無窮無盡的戶外活動，而這些活動在西方是做不到的，街道上熱鬧非凡，到處都有令人難以置信的食物，有所有的現代西方設施和奢侈品，經濟蓬勃發展，是地球上增長最快的地區，整個大陸的犯罪率非常低，當地人很友好，喜歡開玩笑。此外，你可以在天堂般的環境中以西方生活成本的1/5享受這一切。在西方，一切都是關於規則、僵化、賺錢、不與陌生人交流、假裝看起來很富有、競爭、極高的生活成本等等。在西方，感知和地位更為重要，每個人都在試圖超越對方，無論是他們穿的衣服，昂貴的奢侈品牌，他們開的車，他們住的社區，他們的房子有多大，他們在工作中擁有什麼頭銜，他們上的是什麼學校等等，都是不間斷的。東南亞人根本不關心這些東西。他們更願意和你在海灘上聊天，笑，喝啤酒，和你一起吃美味的沙爹。
