Whilst attending the OPVs & Corvettes Asia Pacific Conference in Singapore in April, RAdm Charles Williams, commander of the USN’s Logistics Group Western Pacific and Combined Task Force 73, confirmed two LCS vessels will be simultaneously 兩艘船同時間operating from Singapore beginning next year. The first, likely to be of the same Freedom class, will replace USS Fort Worth. An Independence-class vessel will join her in late 2016.
USS Fort Worth was designed and manufactured by a Lockheed Martin-led consortium. She is equipped with a surface warfare mission package, which includes a Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopter plus a Northrop Grumman MQ-8B Fire Scout UAV in the 7th Fleet’s first ever hybrid air detachment. She also carries two 11m rigid-hulled inflatable boats. (大家幫我研究下,睇睇我是否理解錯誤,是否4只同時駐紮星州)
The USN will eventually operate a total of four LCSs from Singapore, with this scheduled to occur by 2018. Two will be Freedom-class vessels and two will be of the catamaran-hulled Independence class built by Austal.
